We went on a road trip to the Scottish Highlands for seven days; started from Edinburgh and came all the way to Lake District, stopping and admiring the gorgeousness that Scotland is. Here’s an overview of where we went and what we saw. It also mentions all the places that we would recommend you to visit.
Edinburgh – 2 days:
We landed in Edinburgh and stayed the first two days there. Edinburgh is an absolutely magical city with cobblestone roads, a castle in the middle, gothic buildings surrounding it and the high street just a few steps away from it. I love the feel of the city and recommend that you stay a few days there to explore
Some of the important location in and around Edinburgh that you should not miss:
- Edinburgh Castle
- Old Town Edinburgh
- Royal Mile
- Stirling Castle
- Castle Campbell

- Cruise on the Loch Ness
- Urquahart Castle
- Fort George

On our way from Inverness to Glasgow, we stopped by on the following locations that one should not miss. We only had the opportunity of spending one day here but the places to explore around this area are way too many and if you’re planning your trip right now, stay in Fort William for a day and explore the surrounding area.
- Fort William
- Loch Linnhe
- Ben Nevis
- Glencoe

Glasgow – 1 day
We relaxed at Glasgow because I was down with flu, however managed to see a few places that I’d recommend anybody visiting.
- George Square
- Glasgow Cathedral
- Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park
Loch Lomond National Park
Lake District – 1 day
Lake district is actually part of England but that is where we ended our trip and thus including it here.
- Lake District National Park
- Cruise on Lake Windermere
We were too tired to carry the camera with us and thus there are no pictures but it was still lovely and definitely worth a visit. However, because we had already visited the Scottish Highlands it was not too fascinating for us.
